Chumphon is considered the gateway to Southern Thailand and home to the Chumphon Horticultural Research Center, responsible for growing Robusta Coffee production and famous Lady-Finger Banana.
The center has been playing a key role for cacao research since 1970s and farms from that era still thrive! This cacao is grown, fermented and dried in Chumphon.

Let down by wrong packaging

Instead of the usual foil wrapper, Kad Kokoa uses paper to wrap its chocolate. Regrettably, the smell has migrated to the chocolate, which is well known to be a super absorbent of odours and I can't get over the dominant taste of the paper wrapper in the chocolate.
